Who We Are
My family's past is closely tied to Scotland's own. Three direct ancestors fought on the losing side at Culloden, one fought victoriously at Waterloo, and many forebears served in Highland regiments. My grandfather was a commissioned officer in the 1st Battalion Gordon Highlanders, and my father, an experienced tour guide in the north of Scotland, passed down his own deep knowledge of our country's history and our family heritage. His stories and passion for storytelling were a major influence on my decision to follow a similar path. One favourite family tale tells of my great‑grandfather, who, during the harsh winter of 1880, drove a horse and cart across the frozen River Dee at Banchory for a wager... and won!
Born in Scotland's "Silver City," Aberdeen, the oil capital of Europe, I grew up with a strong sense of heritage and history. Many of my childhood holidays were spent exploring the Highlands and the West Coast, tracing the roots of my clan, the McLeans. Those early journeys through Scotland's wild landscapes deepened my fascination with the country's stories and traditions.
In 2019, my curiosity and love of history led me to Edinburgh. Since then, I have immersed myself in the city's culture, lore, and layered past. What began as a part‑time tour guide role alongside my studies in PE teaching soon became my true calling. These days, I’m lucky enough to share my love of Edinburgh and its incredible history with visitors from around the world, one story at a time.
